
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young 19 February 1970)[1] is an American actor, producer, and vocalist, who is most famous for her role as Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). She got the Critics' choice Television Award for the Most Outstanding Supporting actress in an Drama Series in 2014. Additionally, she was an actor in Fox's Prodigal Son (1919-2021). Young started her career as an actor in theatre. In 1997 she made her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the first The Life cast. The Life. Some of her off-Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). The first time she appeared on television in 1995 as The Dr. Courtney Evans, in the role of a regular on the NBC soap drama Another World. In two episodes, she appeared in the show Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. The year 1999 saw her film debut by playing a small role in the crime thriller Black and White and later co-starred in several independent films. The actress began guest-starring in a range of dramas on TV and comedies during the decade of 2000. They were among them The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young has appeared in more than 30 television programs between 2000 and 2011.
